Commercial HVAC for multi-site retail brands in Southern California and Arizona

Retail is the work our crews do every week: rooftop units over sales floors, dozens of stores on one account, and a regional manager who needs every site documented the same way.

What does the HVAC problem look like for a multi-site retail portfolio?

A retail portfolio's HVAC problem is rarely one broken unit. It is dozens of stores with rooftop equipment of different ages, installed and maintained by different contractors, and reported in different formats.

The regional operations manager is accountable for all of it, usually from a desk far from most of the roofs. Store hours set the rules. Work has to happen around opening and closing, crane lifts have to stay out of customer parking, and a warm sales floor on a summer Saturday is a revenue problem, not just a comfort complaint. Luxury and specialty retail raise the bar further: the customer experience depends on a store that is consistently comfortable, quiet and clean.

Why does multi-site reporting matter as much as the repair?

Facilities teams are judged on what their work-order platforms show. A contractor who fixes the unit but closes the ticket late, or describes the work differently at every store, creates a reporting problem for the manager.

REE Mechanical Inc. works inside your IVR and work-order systems as standard, with procedures so both field and office staff feed them correctly. Across a portfolio, the most useful report is the one that shows every asset in the same format: age, condition, service history and what is likely to need replacement next. That is what turns a pile of service tickets into a capital plan; building an HVAC asset register explains how the record is set up.

How does REE Mechanical cover a retail portfolio across Southern California and Arizona?

REE Mechanical Inc. covers retail portfolios with its own crews across six Southern California counties and an in-house team in Arizona, on a maintenance program built on ANSI/ASHRAE/ACCA Standard 180.

We are a commercial, multi-site contractor only; we do not do residential work. Our crews self-perform across Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego counties, with an in-house team in Arizona. Technicians are based across Southern California and Arizona and on call 24/7. For priority accounts, we are on site within 4 hours once site documentation and roof access are in place (actual arrival varies with location and conditions).

By our own estimate, around 80% of the service calls we see could have been avoided with proper maintenance. So the backbone of a retail account is the maintenance program, with emergency service and replacement planned around it rather than instead of it. Reactive vs preventive maintenance sets out what each model costs a store.

What happens when a store's rooftop unit fails in peak season?

When a rooftop unit fails in peak season, we diagnose it, give the facility team repair or replacement options, and keep the store trading while parts or new equipment are sourced.

For Southern California stores, we coordinate temporary cooling through our Herc Rentals relationship and can oversee installation and removal, so a back-ordered part does not turn into a closed store. When a unit is at the end of its life, we plan and run the replacement, including crane lifts. The store-side checklist is in what to do when an RTU fails during business hours.

Questions

Multi-site retail: common questions

Can you cover every store in our Southern California portfolio?

We self-perform across Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego counties, with an in-house team in Arizona. Send us your site list and we will map it against our coverage before anyone talks about pricing.

Will you work inside our work-order or IVR system?

Yes. Working inside customer IVR and work-order platforms is standard for us, and our field and office staff follow procedures so those systems are fed correctly at every site.

How do you avoid disrupting store hours during a replacement?

Replacement work, including crane lifts, is planned around opening and closing. Our project photos show lifts staged before dawn and worked after dark. See Our Work for examples.
