Daikin Applied commercial HVAC replacement and service in Southern California and Arizona

REE Mechanical replaces and services commercial Daikin Applied equipment, including rooftop systems, water source heat pumps and fan coils, for multi-site facilities in six Southern California counties and across Arizona. REE does not work on chillers.

Daikin Applied rooftop, heat pump and fan coil equipment REE works on

Daikin Applied's commercial lineup runs from rooftop systems to water source heat pumps and fan coils inside the building. REE works on all three. REE does not work on chillers, including Daikin Applied's.

Daikin Applied's rooftop systems page lists the Rebel, Rebel Applied and Maverick II rooftop units and rooftop air handlers, and notes that some rooftop units can be designed specifically for make-up air. The same page lists MicroTech III controls and SiteLine building controls. Its water source heat pumps page lists the SmartSource line and explains that each water source heat pump responds only to the load of the zone it serves. Its fan coils page lists ThinLine fan coils and unit heaters, OptiLine vertical stacked fan coils and cabinet unit heaters, in exposed or recessed cabinets.

Daikin Applied also sells chillers. REE does not work on chillers of any make, so a Daikin Applied chiller plant stays with the contractor that services it today.

Daikin Applied water source heat pumps and fan coils inside the building

Water source heat pumps and fan coils sit in ceilings, closets and wall cabinets, each serving its own zone. Service and replacement happen on the occupied floor, so the work is planned zone by zone around the tenants.

Because each water source heat pump serves its own zone, units can be replaced in phases while the rest of the floor keeps running. Each change-out checks the water loop connections, valves, condensate drain and controls at that unit. Fan coils are similar: Daikin Applied describes them in horizontal, vertical and unit heater configurations, and each location sets the access plan.

See our water source heat pump installation and replacement and hydronic fan coil installation and replacement pages, and the guides to how water source heat pumps work and hydronic fan coils.

Replacing a Daikin Applied rooftop unit across a portfolio

A Daikin Applied rooftop replacement starts with what the unit does today: space conditioning, or make-up air only. That answer sets the airflow, controls and curb work before the crane is booked.

Daikin Applied notes that some of its rooftop units are designed specifically for make-up air, treating only outside air. Replacing one of those with a standard rooftop unit, or the reverse, changes how the building is ventilated and exhausted, so REE confirms the unit's role first. See our make-up air and exhaust installation and replacement page for that work.

From there the job follows the same plan as any rooftop replacement: curb fit or adapter, crane pick and staging, and permits city by city, run by Kelly Purcell, our Installation Director. The full sequence is on our rooftop unit installation and replacement page, and repair or replace a rooftop unit covers when replacement is the right call.

Maintenance and Standard 180 inspections on Daikin Applied equipment

REE maintains Daikin Applied rooftop systems, water source heat pumps and fan coils under one Standard 180 program, with in-building units scheduled around occupied spaces.

Rooftop systems get coil, belt, filter, economizer and controls checks. Water source heat pumps and fan coils get filter changes, condensate drain cleaning and coil checks at each unit, usually floor by floor. REE's own figure is that about 80% of the service calls we receive could have been avoided with proper maintenance. Programs run through our HVAC maintenance and inspections pillar, documented to the ASHRAE 180 inspection and testing standard, with 24/7 emergency service between visits.

Questions

Daikin Applied equipment: common questions

Does REE work on Daikin Applied chillers?

No. REE does not work on chillers of any make. REE handles Daikin Applied rooftop systems, water source heat pumps and fan coils, and will tell you which items on a site's equipment list fall inside that scope.

Can REE replace Daikin Applied water source heat pumps one zone at a time?

Yes. Each water source heat pump serves its own zone, so units can be replaced in phases while the rest of the floor keeps running. The survey checks loop connections, valves, drains and controls at each unit before a phase is scheduled.

Does REE service Daikin Applied rooftop units used for make-up air?

Yes. REE services and replaces make-up air rooftop units and confirms the exhaust balance they serve whenever one is replaced, so the building is not left short of outside air.
