HVAC Repair & Emergency Service
Commercial AC Repair & Service in Southern California and Arizona
Rooftop and split-system cooling repair, on call 24/7, with priority accounts on site within 4 hours once site documentation and roof access are in place (actual arrival varies with location and conditions).
What does commercial AC repair cover?
Commercial AC repair restores lost or weak cooling on rooftop packaged units up to 100 tons and split systems up to 60 tons, from a single tripped safety switch to a compressor that has failed outright.
Typical calls include a unit that will not start, a compressor lockout, a dead condenser fan motor, a high-pressure trip that keeps resetting, or a refrigerant leak that has taken a circuit offline. Our own technicians repair all makes and models, whether or not REE Mechanical Inc. installed the equipment. We do not work on chillers.
How can you tell a rooftop unit is losing the fight?
Watch for warm supply air, a sales floor that slips above setpoint every afternoon, short cycling, ice on the coil, water near the unit, and safety switches that trip and reset on their own.
- Supply air barely cooler than the return air.
- A space that holds in the morning, loses ground by mid-afternoon, and recovers overnight.
- Compressors that start and stop in short bursts, or a unit that never shuts off.
- Frost on the evaporator coil or suction line.
- Stained ceiling tiles under a rooftop unit, or a drain pan full of standing water.
- Grinding, squealing, or rattling from a fan motor or compressor.
Is a partial cooling failure worth an emergency call?
In summer, usually yes. When one of two rooftop units serving a sales floor goes down, the survivor carries the whole space at full duty, which makes it the next unit likely to fail.
The same logic applies to a unit with one of two compressors locked out. It may hold temperature on a mild morning and lose it once the afternoon load arrives. In the inland valleys, the high desert, and Arizona, sustained triple-digit heat leaves very little margin for waiting until Monday.
What happens after you call in a cooling failure?
The call goes to Vanny Weber, our Scheduling and Operations Lead, who gets it on the board and a technician moving.
Priority accounts see a technician on site within 4 hours once site documentation and roof access are in place (actual arrival varies with location and conditions). Because our technicians are based across Southern California and Arizona, your call is not routed back through one central yard. Check-in, findings, and check-out go into your IVR or work-order system, so your facilities desk sees the visit in the same place it tracks every other store.
Having an equipment list and access arrangements on file for each site lets the technician walk straight to the failed unit instead of searching the roof for it.
What does a technician check on the roof?
A sound AC repair visit confirms the complaint, finds the cause behind the failed part, makes the repair, and proves the unit is cooling before the technician leaves the roof.
- Confirm the call for cooling at the thermostat or controller, including schedule and setpoint.
- Check the electrical side: voltage, amperage, capacitors, contactors, fuses, and the disconnect.
- Check the refrigerant side: operating pressures, superheat, and subcooling against manufacturer data.
- Check airflow: filters, belts, blower operation, and coil condition.
- Search for and repair leaks when the charge is low.
- Clear the condensate drain and pan if water is part of the complaint.
- Run the unit after the repair and note on the work order what failed and why.
How are larger AC repairs approved?
When a repair goes past what the technician can complete on the visit, Jessica Bresciani, our Estimating Operations Lead, turns the technician’s site findings into a quote for your approval.
That keeps the approval tied to what was actually found on the roof, not to a generic price list. We do not publish pricing, and a compressor on a 25-ton unit with crane access is a different job from a fan motor on a 5-ton split system. Meet Jessica Bresciani.
If the part is on back order and the weather is hot, ask about temporary cooling rental and setup while you wait.
When does an AC repair become a replacement conversation?
Consider replacement when the unit is near the end of its expected life, uses an older refrigerant that is getting harder to source, or keeps needing major components.
A rooftop unit is commonly planned on a service life in the mid-teens of years. A sensible repair-or-replace review weighs the cost of this repair against the unit’s age, its repair history, and how the replacement would fit your capital plan. Our guide on whether to repair or replace a rooftop unit sets out the questions, and rooftop unit installation and replacement covers the install.
What refrigerant records should a facilities team keep?
Keep the date, the refrigerant added, and any leak repair on each unit’s record. Recovery, leak repair, and record-keeping rules depend on refrigerant type and charge, so check current EPA and California requirements for each system.
All of our technicians are EPA certified for refrigerant handling. A clean history also shows which units are leaking again and again, which is often the first sign a unit belongs on the replacement list. Our refrigerant transition guide covers what to track.
Where do we repair commercial air conditioning?
From Ventura County down to the border and across Arizona, our technicians cover six Southern California counties and every Arizona county, and every repair is made by our own licensed, bonded and insured team.

Questions
About Commercial AC Repair & Service in Southern California and Arizona
Is losing one of two rooftop units an emergency?
In summer, treat it as one. The unit still running is now carrying the whole sales floor at full duty, which makes it the next likely failure.
Who approves a larger AC repair?
You do. When a repair goes past what can be completed on the visit, Jessica Bresciani, our Estimating Operations Lead, turns the technician’s findings into a quote for your approval.
When should we replace a rooftop unit instead of repairing it?
Consider replacement when the unit is near the end of a service life commonly planned in the mid-teens of years, runs on an older refrigerant, or keeps needing major parts. See repair or replace a rooftop unit.
